Spotlight: WWII Silhouettes from Kansas City, MO

Link:  http://www.pinterest.com/barbaradenton/lovinas-silhouettes/

Barbara Denton's great-aunt Lovina spent years in the Kansas City Canteen in Kansas City, MO meeting soldiers and their loved ones and creating their silhouettes.  She kept the negatives, and now over 70 years later they have found a new project on the internet.  Barb has spent hours scanning and tagging these silhouettes in an attempt to connect them with their owners.

Do you know any of these soldiers?  Check Barb's pinterest page above to see hundreds of them.

  1. My niece was googling her grandfather (and my father), Norman Neiss, and came upon his silhouette on Barbara Denton's pinterest post. We were so surprised!! My father will be turning 90 years old in September 2016 and lives in an assisted living environment. We shared this silhouette with him and he was able to share his assignment while he was in Missouri in mid-July 1945, just shy of his 19th birthday. It was a delightful surprise to receive this as a search response. My niece is attempting to directly communicate with Barbara Denton.
